Custom Map Feature: Srilanka

Dr. Spielmann // Mar 15, 2010 // 1 comments

Hello Everyone!

We'd like to call your attention over an interesting map just released by RetroBoss, a member of Clan-Germany.

This map is set on Srilanka, so it certainly has an exotic touch that will bring some fresh air for those of you who are tired of fighting in the Middle East, and offers a tropical atmosphere with misty waterfalls, overgrown temple ruins, and even a giant Buddha statue as the central landmark of a large temple compound.

This is definitely an eye catching map once you try it (screenshots don't do it justice), but by far the most attractive of its features is that it offers a good mix of verticality (multi-layered temples and a mountainous landscape), multiple strategic routes, sniper and long-range positions, close quarters assault and flanking opportunities in a textbook example of a good quality custom map that enhances the mod it's intended for, while offering players a chance to enjoy a completely different setting.

Srilanka is designed to be played by large teams. It's certainly not intended for small skirmishes but feels rather suited to large scale battles. On a full server, you can better experience the numerous tactical possibilities that it offers, and shows a clever use of the push game mode with destructible walls and other elements that allow your team to access certain areas. Some of those, like ladders, only appear after you have captured the previous objectives.

You can find more information about this custom map for Insurgency here (English) and here (German).

If you want to play the map online, it's available 24/7 on Clan-Germany's Server 2

There are many great custom maps you can find in this section. We'll be featuring some of them in the near future!

Insurgency Client Updated

Dr. Spielmann // Jan 12, 2010 // 39 comments

Hello Everyone!

As mentioned a few days ago in the forums, the "end-of-round crash while spectating" has been resolved.

The update has just been uploaded to Valve and it should become live within the next few hours. For those of you not familiar with the issue, the patch fixes a crash that occurs when you are spectating and the last objective on the map is captured.

We are currently working on addressing other known stability issues, and will release similar smaller patches for them in the near future.

Thanks a lot for your support and feedback, and see you on the servers!

2.5 Hotfix Released!

Dr. Spielmann // Nov 3, 2009 // 149 comments

Hello everyone!

After your helpful feedback during the release of 2.5 we've been able to create a hotfix that solves some of the most annoying problems of the previous release (namely, crashes, grenade-related bugs, etc). We've also added some extra eye-candy with better weapon selection icons!

This is the detailed changelog of this small update:

  • M203 range increased 10%
  • Prevent "grenades get players stuck" issues.
  • Fixes a number of reported crashes.
  • Morale-related issues fixed.
  • Added 2 new tips to the loading screen (related to spectator menu).
  • Al-Kadesiah fire sound has been corrected.
  • Weapon selection icons have been upgraded and consolidated.
  • M4 Aimpoint opacity corrected for all graphics cards (no more opaque lense).

We would like to thank everyone for the great reception of 2.5. We hope that this update will minimize the stability problems and provide a much more enjoyable experience.

As with all Steam updates, your client will automatically update shortly.

See you on the servers!
